<VV> Joe Christ - update - NO CORVAIR

Dear Corvair friends,

You may remember last September I wrote of the illness of Joe Christ, 
longtime CORSA and CORSA South Carolina member. Joe is known in the 
Corvair community as the guy who bought Seth Emerson's yellow 
Corvair/Lola autocross car.

Joe and his wife Sarah live outside Six Mile, South Carolina, in the 
far North West part of the state. He has a stable of vehicles which 
include the Lola, a Pantera, a road grader and two bull dozers, a nice 
silver-blue late-model Corsa convert, some other Corvairs, old trucks, 
and a boat or motorcycle or two.

Joe was diagnosed with cancer in his pelvis and his bladder. They have 
given him radiation to shrink the tumor in his pelvis which was causing 
him quite a lot of pain. That treatment seemed to be successful.

Next, they gave him chemotherapy to shrink or destroy the tumor in his 
bladder. That too worked well. Every time he'd get a treatment it'd 
make him pretty sick and disable him. As time passed, he'd recover and 
be quite well. He was able to attend our Christmas party in early 
December, the first meeting he'd been to in months. He's been able to 
get outside and work on some of his projects.

He had his last chemo a couple of days after Christmas. It seemed like 
every treatment was worse. I called a week ago and he was in bed and 
couldn't talk on the phone. Saturday we talked and he seemed great! 
He's planning on coming to our meeting tomorrow night.

Joe says the doctors are optimistic. He's to have a bone scan around 
the end of the month, to check on the cancer in the pelvic bone, then 
see a urologist about the tumor in his bladder. Hopefully, these tests 
will prove his cancer to be in remission.

Many of you sent cards when I told you of Joe's illness last September. 
I know all the support from his Corvair friends meant a lot to him. If
