<VV> sedan/sport sedan... barely any Corvair

The reason GM used "Sport Sedan" for the 65-67 Corvair 4 door cars was
because they did not have the "B" pillar... Auto manufacturers are notorious for
making up names for their different accomplishments... the example of the late
40s/50s names of trim for cars is a nice example. Way back in '89 when I had
that 1950 Roadmaster it was actually called a "Roadmaster Riviera 130 sedan"...
it was a Roadmaster first and foremost, since it was the largest Buick at that
time, 70 series, with 320 straight eight and Dynaflow transmission (I could
outrun it stop sign to stop sign with this rod in my leg right now!)... the
"Riviera" designation was the "look" of a pillarless car... the convertible look,
if you will.... yet it was a 4 door sedan complete with "B" pillars... but
this car was the "72R" body, which meant it got a special stainless trim that
went up the "A" pillar, along the roof line and top of doors and down the rear
pillar, giving it a "look" of a pillarless sedan.... I was informed it was a
late mid-year option, and it was supposed to have power windows and power seat,
but my car was actually ordered by a "high up" someone in the Cincinnati
Archdiocese and had ordered it without those options (according to the guy that sold
it to the guy I bought it from, since he bought it from the Archdiocese back
in the 60s and saw me at a car show with it, and told me the name of the guy I
bought it from)... it DID have E-Z-Eye tinted windows all the way around...
that was one very nice car....
Anyway, what I'm getting at is the names were used to IMPLY something, and
not necessarily the same thing in each instance...
On a different note, I just got back in from installing the new carb... seems
to have fixed the problem, but while I had the carb off I noticed the balance
tube hoses were a little lose... could explain why it doesn't want to idle
when warm and in gear... I'll be picking up some hose clamps this weekend...
maybe tomorrow if I venture out.
