<VV> Oil change-no vair

Just got off the phone with a brother a few minutes ago. He went in to the
dealer to get an oil filter for his VW, only place he can get one, and the
parts guy, an older gentleman who has been around the block a few times and
at this dealership since 1980 told him to ignore the owners manual. The
owners manual suggests 10k mile oil change interval. He HIGHLY suggested to
him to not go more than 5k using the VW recomended Castrol Synthetic. He
said he has seen way too many wear issues due to the extended oil change
intervals. He also mentioned he didn't care if he bought the oil etc...
there or from a parts store or where ever. He wasn't trying to make more
sales.
