Ok, you have a hood alingnment problem. If you haven't had the hood fly
up when driving (oh what an experience that is!) or the hinge is ruted
to the point of being sloppy, I would try adjustment first before I
changed the hinge.
I think the shop manual has the instrutions, but here is a brief
description. The hood mounts with 4 bolts, two through each hinge, just
like most old GM trunk lids. To adjust the hood up and down referenced
to the fenders, the only method is to add shims under these four bolts.
SHims are available in 1/16" and 1/8" size but you can also use washers
or wharever you have laying around. By putting shims under the front or
rear bolt of a hinge, you can raise or lower the hood relative to the
fender.
It doesn't make sense at first, but yes the hood can be lowered by
putting shims at the right bolt.
Try this first before replaceing the hinge.
