Thanks Joe,
My plan to start with R12 was that I didn't want the expenses of new
drier, hoses, compressor, and expansion valve that currently exists with
the system.
I have friend who is licensed and does all the R12 work for the old cars
around here. R-12 cools much better and I was going to run it until it
wasn't possible any more.
Am I really in the better situation to switch over now to 134 or am I
better off going the R12 now? I plan on speaking with Rusty Rose as
well as Greg Riely as soon as possible to get their input. All I know
right now is that I can't stay stock and nor do I care to.
I currently subscribe to Air-vairs online and have posted there as well.
I'll be sending Mark a check as soon as possible for the chapter
membership.

I'd suggest that you first join Air 'Vair, the CORSA chapter for
air-conditioned Corvairs. CORSA members can join for $5 sent to Mark

I'd suggest you go to R-134a immediately, unless you mean to stay
with
R-12 indefinitely. Getting best effect from R-134a (as from R-12)
entails
using a PARTICULAR type of condenser, of which type most modern examples
will be, of course. You should also use an expansion valve calibrated
for
R-134a and, of course, the appropriate refrigeration oil for this
refrigerant. Offhand, I just can't think of a reason to start with R-12
when
you intend eventually to go to R-134a. Why postpone the switch when
you're
in a good position to do it now?

Ebay that was the topic of discussion last week.
I had almost bought the car when it was listed on the Classified's a few
months ago but didn't as I was shopping for a house based on a pending
move.
So here I am, the soon be proud owner of a very, very, nice rust free 66
factory AC Monza that has been tastefully cloned into a 66 Turbo Corsa
thru the handy donation's of the necessary items from a 65 Turbo Corsa.
The first issue that I have to overcome is the fact that the AC is only
90% complete, but missing a very important part. The condenser is not
installed as the turbo sits where it should. I have the option of the
front trunk mount of the rear fender well mount.
I am almost 100% positive that I will be going with the rear fender
mount and using one of the modern fan cooled condensers but was looking
for a any suggestions out there from the group.
The car the complete stock 66 system installed and plugged up at the
connecting point of the condenser.
I was figuring on using R-12 at this time and in the future switching
over to a Sanden compressor and upgrading the system for R-134 at a
later date, what's the groups thoughts?
