Actually, these do look somewhat like a 911 fan. Now I am getting a clearer  
picture, so to speak. Thanks for the links! 
What does the shroud look like for this fan?

I think "how to hotrod corvair engines"  or the first "turbochargers" books showed a 911 fan conversion, maybe on some Reeves Callaway's or Alex Dearborn's stuff
