I've had 2 (maybe 3?) coils go out on Corvairs in the past dozen years.
Well, that is probably around 150 - 160,000 miles of Corvair driving - so
not that bad. Heat (our engine compartments get quite warm) is NOT friendly
to coils. They are mounted (most Vairs) in a nice warm spot right on the
end of the cylinder head. Some folks move them to the rear frame rail.
That probably helps, but I've never bothered to do it.
I don't really think it is the coil in the case at hand, but does not take
long to check it, anyway.
Attachments (if any) are scanned with anti-virus software.
