How about Chrysler Sebring seats that have a shoulder belt already? They
are Way more comfortable, have six way power adjust and are much lighter.

Has anyone tried this? I would think you could mount a modern recoil-type
shoulder belt by bolting the recoil unit on the floor near the corner of the
seat and the bracket that normally is in the door post near the top corner
of the convertible's post. If the donor car was a modern convertible, the
geometry and belt lengths would probably be similar. It seems reenforcing
the mounting points might be the only serious mod needed. The body looks to
be high enough to be effective.
