<VV> Water leak

How can I detect the source of a water leak.  I have talked with the
original owner/PO, and he has removed the kick panel twice.  The first time
was to try and find the water leak and the second time to replace the
antenna.  So that says that the leak was their before he disturbed the seal
around the vent.  I have never noticed the water leak, but on the other
hand, I don't drive the car in the rain and the rest of the time it's in a
garage, so I'm only going on what he has told me and the light surface rust
on the floor.  Even after washing the car yesterday, I couldn't find any
water on the floor.  Only leak I detected was a trickle around the rear
window.  Apparently the leak was noticeable enough to where he would put a
towel around the base of the kick panel to absorb the water.
