To get to the spider gears, you are going to have to remove the top cover.
Then remove the pinion gear and shaft. After that you have to remove the
carrier that the ring gear is bolted to. Then disassemble this carrier. Follow the
instructions in the shop manual. Just be sure to count the number of turns when
removing each adjustment sleeve (all three) so you can return them to the
same positions as before. That way you will maintain the correct adjustments.
