And for electronic conversions, a loose mounting plate for sensor-magnetic
or light or Hall effect pick up unit-I have seen this.  Rotor (the other
one, or light disk or magnetic rotor) hits and eventually runs poorly-(not
using words that better describe the results because I don't want any Driver
penalty points...)  <vbg>

I would check the roll pin holding the drive gear on the distributor shaft.
Many gears are quite loose.
