<VV> leaking Transmission

Hi
A friend of mine is having a problem with his Powerglide.  The Powerglide
fluid is leaking into the differential.   He replaced the gasket before
putting the power train in.  Could the gasket be bad or could the gasket not
in properly.  Any help in solving the problem would be much appreciated.
