Wow...thanks for the tips to a novice! I had 8 votes for U-Joint and 2
for wheel bearing (though several said that it could be wheel
bearings)...the back wheels have no play when lifted and shaken back and
forth, so I am guessing U-Joint for now...I have a friend who works for
Federal Mogul who gave me a whole bag of goodies when he heard that I
bought my Corvair...including wheel bearings and u-joints, so I should be
set either way when I take it apart. I will post again to let you know
when I am able to lift it and take the wheels off. I won't be driving it
till I do...when I parked it in the garage it started squeaking/grinding
and actually "ground" to a halt! I had to force it the last two feet
into the garage. It didn't lock up completely, but it sure fought any
movement.
