-OR- Some are not to lazy and have fixed the hose, and any leaks.  But 
there really is no use for it.  Especially around here.  Need heat or not! 
With those old cables there is always a chance of it not fully closing.  So 
no not sloth, it is actually making additional effort to block off 
something unused/unneeded ;)
