<VV> Engine Seal - VW Type II?

Corvair Fiends,

Several years ago, someone mentioned to me that a VW Type II engine
shrouding seal would work on a Corvair.  At least I think that's what it
was.  Has anyone tried this?  Does it work well?  I went into my FLAP dealer
here and asked for a "VW Type II engine seal" and the guy looked at me like
I was from a different planet.

What is the technical name for this part, and is this the correct part?  Is
there a website where I can order one online?
