Likewise had a great Corvair day today...

I finally got my garage cleaned up well enough that I got my 66 out of rented storage
for the first time in two years and brought it home. The brake master cylinder had
frozen up so I had to change that, and will now go thru the complete brake system, but
it was in good enough shape with just the master swap that I didn't have any trouble
getting it home. Aired up the tires, charged up the battery, and drove it home at
speeds up to 70mph (worked up to that very slowly)...and kept plenty of space from any other
cars...hard to do though because people kept closing in to look. It did just fine
though it appears that I'll have to replace the seal around the input shaft...probalby
hardened from so many years of sitting...valve covers and o-rings are dry...just the
bell housing leak. The car had 96K miles on it when I got it in 1974, and it had 240K
miles on it when I restored it in the mid-80s (second engine but the first engine went
over 200K miles), but I havn't driven it 1000 miles since then.

It was good to bring it home. My twin toddler boyz love the marina blue color and the
wire wheel covers.
