>From my recent search and purchase, I'd say $400 for a core with no 
significant problems. If it is a good running engine that one could drop in a car and 
run, I'd think anywhere from $600 to $1,000 depending on your need plus the 
seller's motivation. Anything recently overhauled would be a lot more.
Any engine that requires significant repairs or parts replacement would be 
less than $400 in my opinion (eg, dropped seat or broken crank). Shipping would 
be in addition to these numbers.
