Joe-
A V8 is too much: Too heavy, too long! A 4.3 is just what you need. If you
put it in the rear nothing needs to be cut. If you are concerned about
weight you can get aluminum heads, block and intake.
The easiest adapter to buy is one from Kennedy Engineering to mate a SBC V8
to the Vair trans. The 4.3 uses the same pattern.
Use "left hand engine" parts for a 4.3 marine engine to reverse the V6.
That includes cam, cam & crank gears and reversed starter. An aluminum
serpentine driven water pump from an 84-92 Corvette will pump correctly with
a V-belt pulley setup.
Assemble a non-computer, vacuum/mechanical advance even fire distributor by
combining parts from a 75-78 straight 6 distributor and a 75-78 V8
distributor.
Can you guess what I'm using?
Ed
