[NoVa-Corvairs] August 19 meeting and ULTRA VAN!!!

Hi guys-  I have a major task planned for our August meeting at my print
shop in Merrifield.  My newly acquired Ultra Van, "Mabel" is in need of a
transition BACK to PG from the crazy 4 speed manual conversion (complete
with 4 spd shifter on the dash next to the steering wheel, with a strangely
designed hydraulic clutch, to a Powerglide.)

I know this is a lot to tackle and hope to do some preliminary work
beforehand and get things ready.  The GOOD news is that my shop is air
conditioned and quite comfy to work.  Also, my meetings will always involve
delicious egg casserole and brunch beverages.. even if people decide they
want to come back for a Sunday work session.

My good bud Bob Marshall came over today and we went through things and
decided the PG would be my best route, as opposed to try and make this
weird manual set up work.  But I need some guidance, input, and of course,
parts!

If anyone has a PG transmission and parts to go along with the transition-
( I need shifter, etc.. will have to figure out about a cable for an Ultra
Van) please let me know.  I am willing to pay a fair price, as my
alternative would be to buy a rebuilt PG transmission from the Ranch, but
I'm hoping to save a bit and if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to
them.  I want to make sure we are putting something good back in this
girl.  I need to create a list of small parts to order, as well.

Next weekend, Fri the 28th through Sunday, I'm baby and wife free, and
available to do any prep work so I hope to start planning this out early
this week.  My hope is that we can take a few short family trips this Fall
before we put Mabel to a real test.  And along with tires and a few other
things, maybe this will be possible.  I appreciate any help or suggestions
anyone might have.
