I think the "secret" is to install the gasket on the window, and then
install the whole thing into the body; not try to mount the gasket to the body and
then insert the window. Doing it on a hot sunny day would help with the
flexibility of the rubber.

gentlemen
I have Rampy back from the painters! I am reassembling after taking the
truck apart 4 years ago. I am asking for guidance on re - installing the rear
window of Rampy. The original glass is fine and I have a new rubber gasket
(which also came with a large tube of black silicone) from our east Coast vendor,
but no instructions. My Chevrolet assy. manual simply states the parts needed
and a note to "glue the ends of the gasket together and install the seam at
the TOP of the window, but no other help. My first two attempts have almost
caused me to break the glass. My first two tries involved placing the gasket
around the edge of the opening then starting the glass at the bottom, slowly
digging the lip of the gasket up over the glass working around the edge. When
I get close to the end of the process, the glass suddenly pops out, and drops
into the cab. Is the technique included in the tech manual?
Thanks
Tim
