Karl,
I would take off the molding and trim to see how extensive the rust is. You may have more than it shows in the picture. Do you have a welder? Shop around at other junk yards.

Subject: BSCC- Junkyards (non-Corvair)
Hi everyone,
My 1993 Saturn has a rusted right rear door sill (plastic bodied cars,
ut there are two places that they rust out, and this is one of them --
ee attached photo). I plan to go to a salvage yard (LKQ/ABC Used Auto
arts in Leominster) where they have several possible donor cars.
I have a Sawzall that would do the trick, but it is not cordless. I can
ent a portable generator locally in Boston for $50/day. I can rent one
n Leominster for about $75/day, which is more expensive, but allows me
o go to the junkyard and see if any of the parts are worthwhile and
ccessible before spending the money. Nobody seems to rent cordless
awzalls.
I called back LKQ and asked if they would cut the part off for a fee and
as told "yes." However, when I asked for a price range for doing such a
hing, I was given a number in the $350 range (rather than the $20 range
ike I was expecting based on conversations with others).
Am I looking at doing this the right way? How do you all go to cut parts
ff of cars in junkyards (if you do)? Are there cheaper places to rent
enerators, or other portable cutting tools? I'm currently unemployed so
ould like to spend as little as possible to do the job.
Thanks!
arl
