Hello to everyone.
Are you getting excited?
Well this time next Friday, many of us, (ourselves included as Kathy got the green light Thursday to go), will be tucked in at the Red Roof Inn awaiting the "Big Day" at Clark's on Saturday. If you're one of those who haven't made up your minds as to whether or not you're staying over the night before the Clark's Show, it's not too late to call the Red Roof Inn in So. Deerfield at (413) 665-7161 mentioning code B289COVAIR to get the Club's special room rate.
Many of you have called or e-mailed about caravanning up to So. Deerfield next Friday so a plan is in place. Some of you have decided to leave from Steve & Gerri-lyn's in Rehoboth, MA on Friday. You can start gathering there at 10:00 AM and that group will be departing The Boyden's at 10:30 to meet up with another group caravanning to So. Deerfield who will be gathering at the Charlton rest area / travel center on the west bound side of the MA Turnpike. It's the big rest area approximately 10+ miles or so west of Exit 10 in Auburn. We'll gather there around 11:30 leaving for So. Deerfield by noon. Let me know If any of you are planning on coming up I-495 to the MA Pike heading to Charlton are welcome to stop by my house and join us for the ride to Charlton. We're leaving Milford for Charlton on or about 10:30 AM next Friday.
From the Charlton Rest Area, it's approximately an hours drive to Deerfield. We should have a pretty large group but it should be easy enough to stay together going the MA Pike to Exit 4, which is I-91, through the tolls then heading North on I-91 to our exit in So. Deerfield. You'll see the billboard on I-91 advertising the Yankee Candle Factory. Our lodging is right near the Yankee Candle Factory on Routes 5/10 north. I called Jen at the Red Roof on Thursday AM and she said check-in is any time after 1 PM. She did say she wasn't sure about an outside faucet to wet wash cars as they have an underground sprinkler system in place but she will check and if there is one she'll ask that be made available to all the Corvair owners. As of Thursday AM, 46 rooms are booked so I'd guess that by the end of this week we'll have over 50 rooms booked. There'll be a mini-Corvair Show right there at the hotel. This looks like it's going to be a very well attended show and is shaping up to be our biggest and best yet. We're planning on 80 Corvairs and hoping to draw that elusive 100th Corvair to our show on the 16th. I realize many of you who plan to attend will be working on Friday and won't join us until later in the evening. Have a safe trip and we'll see you at the Red Roof later on Friday night. For those of you who will be coming up early on the day of the show, please try to be there as early as possible. The show officially starts at 9:00 but many of us will be there around 7:00 to get a lot of set-up work completed. We would appreciate any and all help you can provide throughout the day to make this a well run event. I don't want it to sound like it's all work and no play. Take time to go on Cal's tours of the facility; very interesting. Above all else, have fun and enjoy yourselves at this wonderful All-Corvair show. Ray

To Elaine and Sharon, our Events coordinators, you may have to make a few phone calls to cover the list over the next few days for the members who aren't 'on-line'. Thanks.
