I have owned 2 'Vairs in the past, but as I was not very mechanically inclined, had to "give up" the hobby.
The first was a '65 Monsa Coupe, with 110 4-spd. Gave 600.00 for it- the owner was an ex-GM employee and 'Vair enthusist himself.
The second was supposedly a '65 Corsa. I say supposedly because it had no model badges on it save for two small holes high on the front fenders and holes low in front of the rear wheelwell where the said badges would go. It was equipped with a 110 4spd. The only other peculiarity to it was that it looked different somehow to other 'Vairs of the same vintage, seemed the body looked more beefier, or shaped slightly heavier?
A strange coincidence- bought these cars years apart from different owners...both cars same exact color inside and out with same mechanical set-up. Go figure.
I've since gotten over the 'Vair craze, but as you can see, have yet to get all "disease? malady? excitement?" out of my system. I go to car shows still hoping that this will be the one that the local Corsa chapter will descend upon and take over, no prisoners taken. (Un?)fortunately, that has yet to happen; but a bittersweet 'Vair affectionado can still hope, can't he?
Thanx....
