1st was when I turned 16 (1968)-a 1963 Spyder converible. It had the maroon color that was faded out as that color always did. I worked that summer at the city shop and when no one was looking, we rolled it in and and painted it school bus yellow (it was the only color we had). Drove the crap out of it during high school. Over the years it was followed by a 1966 Monza convert, 1965 Corsa with A/C, 1966 Corsa Turbo, 1964 Monza with A/C, 1967 Monza 140 auto, 1965 Monza 4dr that I put a 180 turbo in, 1963 Turbo coupe, 1969 Monza 110 that rusted away a slow death but went 260,000 miles, lastly-another 1969 Monza and a 1965 Monza that I had to sell both and all my parts when I got divorced a few years ago (I got the house, the kids, and all the bills but it was worth selling out to pay the witch off and leave us alone) I was Corvairless until last year when I dragged a 1964 Monza home that no one wanted because it was a rust bucket but ran good. Due to health I haven't been able to do much to it but now I am up and about looking for a rust-free EM coupe body to put all the good stuff from the 64 into.
More about myself:
Retired on disbility in 2002 after 33 years in law enforcement due to service related injuries over the years. My late dad was into Corvairs and was a motorcycle cop most of his life and I inherited 3 good things from him; 1-Take care of your family and others first, 2-A love of motorcycling, 3-A love of Corvairs. I live in Prattville, Alabama with my kids and grandkids.
