Try backing the switch a turn or two out and see if it works.  I don't recall the exact sealing arrangement of that switch, but it may have a (fairly thick) plastic washer for a gasket.  If backing it out fixes it, an extra gasket might be a long-term fix.  You do have one gasket in there now don't you?

Maybe something attached to the inside of the old switch fell off inside the transmission. Or your shop is giving you the green weenie.
