<VV> Late model CT window seal

For every late model convertible I've owned, the rubber
vertical seal on the LH rear window glass bulges up along
the lowest two inches until wind/water entry.
For this current 1966 convertible, I have a new rubber seal
and cleaned the steel track well, I used two steel plates
along the channel to press it narrower until the seal just
slid with hand pressure. It was quite sloppy before. I used
a thin line of 3M Fast Tack in the channel. Seemed OK for a
few months but now once again is chronically walking up out
of the channel with normal door open/close. Yes, I learned
in the 1970s not to raise the driver window with the door
latched.
Eight months in, the seal lip is shredded at the outside
bottom rear edge from being forced in and out of the channel.
Can anyone out there suggest a solution?
