Well, before I would do anything else, I would disconnect the shift rod and
using a small Phillips screwdriver inserted in the shifter at the
transmission, I would try and run it through the gears. Remember, in the
relaxed position, it is ready to go into third and fourth. Try that
first. Then you will have a better idea as to whether or not you have the
shifter forks properly installed.
