<VV> Missing Linkage?

Another question. You may remember my Corvair run-on engine problem with a '65 Corsa 140.  Well, while checking the linkages and wires for potential problems I realized that the left primary carb is missing the connecting link from the plastic "tripper" to the fast idle cam.  In comparison, the right primary carb appears to have all its' (in this case, metal) parts.  Is this normal, or was something left out when the carbs were rebuilt along with the rest of the engine?  Will this cause a change in performance?  BTW, I don't think this has anything to do with the current run-on problem as the car was OK for over 1K miles before the recent situation.  Thanks.Bob
