Hugo,
Though I read every VV message I seldom post because VV has so many very (real world) experienced contributors, BUT, as others have suggested, I think you should ask a local club member to visit and give some advice. The Chevrolet manuals explain how the rear suspension was designed to work and that's the benchmark. If there really is a problem with your rear suspension--who knows what has happened to it over that past 56 years--then you can find it most quickly by comparing it to that benchmark. A lot more quickly. Unless there really is something wrong with the rear suspension I would vote for the problem being with the Maxii tires. When I drove my family EMs as a teenager our '61 700 had a similar issue that was caused by an asymmetrical tire. In the late 1960s when radials were becoming more common I had bad vibrations between 50 and 60 miles an hour on my '68 Monza with my first set of Dunlop SP68 tires that went away when I put some bias ply tires back on as a mechanic I knew suggested. I had the Dunlops rebaIanced but still had the same problem. I put some Pirelli radials on with no problems. I just had a bad (set of) tire(s). I hope you get to enjoy driving your '64 again soon.
