I tried to include a link to the photo in the original post, but VV converted it to text that did not include all link information. The photo is at the URL within the parentheses here (copy and paste the URL, not including the parentheses):

Based on the wiring diagrams, the front signals are on the same circuit at the dash indicator lights. If the switch activates for a RH turn, the wires to the dash indicator and to the trunk harness connector should both be live. I would start by unplugging the harness in the trunk from the firewall connector and probing the 2 middle terminals of the firewall connector while activating the switch. See if you are getting flashing signal there. If not, you have an issue between the switch and the connector. If you have signal at the connector, then check at the light socket to see if you have signal there. If so, then either the bulb is bad or the ground is bad. You can use a wire and alligator clips to create a known ground between the socket shell and the body and see if the light flashes then (with the light socket pulled out of the body but with the bulb left in the socket).
According to the 1961 Manual wiring diagram, the dash light wire and the wire from the turn signal switch are spliced at the dash side of the trunk connector.
I have attached a schematic (labeled 1964, but the schematic for the signals is the same) showing the whole circuit, including the switch contacts and connectors.
Hope this helps.

'Vair Friends,
I could use some help with an issue that has happened in the past (and repaired by an old school, now retired mechanic), but is present again. My front turn signals will not work on my '61 Monza Coupe, and the issue is preventing me from getting state inspection passed. I have reached out to a club member, and we have done everything but disassemble the steering wheel to get to the turn signal components. Before I do so, I thought I would see more suggestions.
Here is what we have checked:
- Rear turn signals, headlights and tail lamps DO WORK.
- New bulbs in front, correct specification
- Checked/cleaned connector in trunk from firewall
- Checked/cleaned connector in engine bay (left harness near battery)
- The switch on the steering column IS activating.
- The turn signal indicators on the dash DO WORK.
- Tested for power to front signals using micrometer - affirmative for passenger side, inconsistent reading for driver's side
Any suggestions and possible fixes? Many thanks in advance.
