<VV> Rear Window Project

Thanks to Chuck, Brian, Seth, Mike, and John for taking the time to respond...VVers came through once again.  

The rear window/back glass replacement  has turned out to be much more of a project than I would have ever guessed.  It became a pain because I believed Youtube videos that said one could use 000 steel wool on glass...not true for me.  I spent many hours trying to remove the tiny scratches left behind using cerium oxide and tooth paste.  To the casual observer, the glass currently in the car looks almost OK but I'm sure it could be improved.     (Sometimes I wish I weren't so fussy.) More questions:      Lexan or Plexiglass?       1/8th or 3/16th?        cut it to shape before or after it drapes?
                               I assume lots of clamps are used during the draping process...right?

The cost of a new glass rear window is $2,500.   

On the Internet, I found a piece of 1/8th clear acrylic more than big enough to do the job for $79 + s&h.
There is plenty of sunshine and high temps in FL.  ( A heat gun is available if necessary.) 

If somebody has a glass rear window within a reasonable driving distance from Inverness, FL, might I borrow it to use it as the form?
