    Are the phenolic (plastic) insulators under the carburetors?
The carburetors are sensitive to heat coming from the heads, which do get
pretty dang hot.
That can cause fuel delivery issues to the venturi, no doubt.
I like using a paper gasket both below and above the insulator, too...
