I always heard that since forged pistons need more cold clearance than 
stock-style cast pistons, they are more prone to 'talk' a bit when cold.

As they warm up, they expand out to proper running clearance, and quiet 
down.

If a forged piston is quiet when cold, it is probably on the ragged edge 
of being too tight?
