I don't understand this. Why would a weak battery break the starter nose?
...and it's not the flywheel, it's the pressure plate/torque converter....just sayin'.

Another big cause of the "broken starter nose " syndrome (other than flywheel ) is trying to start the motor with not enough battery. trying to start with not enough Amps/Volts will almost always break the nose. So if it is not cranking fast when you hit the key , back off until you fix the problem correctly , do not keep trying! Could be battery , connection ,starter itself , or even timing issues.Regards, Tim Colson
