Thanks for your reply. I've had one reply say that they are attached with an adhesive. Is it the pins, clip, AND adhesive?

Two pins through the vinyl, special clip from behind. Use a heat gun to soften the vinyl and "set" the buttons into it. Makes putting the clips back on easier. BTW - the clips are not easy to get off in the first place!!

I have a friend who's working on his '66 Corsa interior and has bought new
upholstery from Clark's. He hasn't taken the old covers off because the
seats are in storage, and he can't get to them until winter is over. Does
anyone know how the decorative metal "buttons" that are in the seat backs
are attached? Adhesive? Metal tabs that push through the vinyl?
