Yes, George,
GM did add the transverse spring in 1964. I own a 1964 Spyder coupe.  However, it is still an EM with a swing axle rear suspension which was Nader's stated concern.  Technically, they made them for 5 years.  Actually, they made 1965 Greenbriers for a portion of the year.  I own one of those as well.  Did they technically make EMs for 6 years?

Technically, in 1964, GM modified the rear suspension with the addition ofthe transverse mono leaf spring thereby reducing the risk of rollover.Therefore, the claim of the "first 4 years" would be accurate.
