It's interesting that the early commercials showed the late model with round tail lights. I presumed somebody complained about maligning the Corvair so they changed the tail lights to make it a little less obvious that it was a Corvair.

Dan,Well, I guess the filmed "event" was staged. The burning car was an Early -- a '63? -- and the wall momento was a Late with altered tail lights, maybe from a Mustang. Thanks for the background.--Tom in OhioSent from Yahoo Mail on Android On Wed, Mar 14, 2018 at 9:02 PM, Dan Konkle via VirtualVairs<virtualvairs at corvair.org> wrote: A new friend of mine works at Farmers. Mark went on the company's intraweb to research the truth of this ad for me. He said the real incident occurred in a festival parade in Washington State, but the car was actually a '79 MG. Whether an MGB or a Midget, his source didn't say. As luck would have it, the vehicle right behind the unfortunate MG was a firetruck, so the situation was handled quickly. I'll bet some spectators thought it was a staged demonstration. _______________________________________________This message was sent by the VirtualVairs mailing list, all copyrights are the propertyof the writer, please attribute properly.
