Does anyone know why the front brake drums on early model cars are riveted to the hub? What would happen if you drilled out the rivets so the drums were demountable like on the late models? I’ve always wondered about this whenever I do work or check the brakes on my early models. Jim Bartasevich I

Hub and drum were an "Assembly / Part" Most every rivet has been removed in the last 50 years..
