Let me correct that. From studying my photos of many Corvairs over the years, I think all Early Model brackets were plated and all late model brackets were painted black - likely satin, not flat.

Do you mean the metal holder of the plastic reservoir? It was plated - like
clear zinc. I have an NOS one at home I could photo for you.
