Smitty Says;  I can't relate to that sound since to the best of my knowledge 
none of my Corvairs have ever made it.  Just guessing because of the power 
loss, could it be running on 3 cylinders?  If you have a stock ignition you 
can pull wires in rotation from the distributor one at a time and see if 
every other wire pull makes it try to die.  That will tell you which side is 
not running if that is the case.  If you have one side not running then I 
would go for a carb main jet plugged next.  It can really get complicated 
from here.
