<VV> Lakewood Stainless Steel Trim Installation

I'm about ready to reinstall the gutter molding and the molding that goes
around the car on the doors, fenders, etc. [Chevy calls it "lower molding"]
I have several questions:

 

Lower Molding

1.  There are plastic clips for the lower molding [Chevy refers to them as
"bathtub" clips.].    

2.  There are also some stud clips at the ends of some of the pieces of
molding that are fastened with nuts from inside the fender.

3.  Mine has some steel push-in clips which look somewhat like arrowheads on
various sections which are used on the curved sections of molding as well as
on the entire rear door on the driver side.  They go into round holes in the
body whereas the bathtub clips go into rounded rectangular holes.  Over the
years, I've bought several sets of Lakewood trim so I could use the best
pieces and have found several of them to have the same push-in clip on the
one rear door trim section.  Does anyone know why only on this door and why
the different type of clip?

4.  There are some female screw clips for the trim on the front edge of the
trunk lid.  

5.  The '61 shop manual says to install the clips in the body and then snap
on the trim.  Is this the method to use or has anyone found a better way?
Would this method be for the steel clips as well?  It seems like those clips
should go on the trim first and then pushed into  the body.  I can see how
the trim would snap on to the bath tub clips after they are inserted into
the body.

 

I have been unsuccessful in finding any clips or fasteners locally, but have
a few more leads to check.  Clark's doesn't have them.  If anyone knows
where I can get them, please let me know.  I'd like to replace all of them.

 

Gutter Molding

1.  Which end do I start from to install it?  Front or rear?  I would think
it would be the rear to make sure it's attached properly around the curve
where it slopes downward.  The shop manual says nothing about it.

2.  Any tips or suggestions for installing it?

3.  I was thinking of putting a slight coating of grease on the outer edge
of the painted gutter before the installation to prevent rust behind the
molding.  I found that the gutters had rust on them when the trim was
removed.

 

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.  I have photos of the clips I
mention above which I can send.
