You CAN "push start" PG Corvairs. At least I used to "roll" or "push" start my 1966 Monza and it usually worked IF you could get up to 25-30 mph. I would park on the hilly section of our workplace parking lot and if I left after most of my co-workers, I would put "Joe Cool" (he had A/C) in neutral and roll downhill with the ignition on and put the car into gear when 25 mph (or more was reached) Most of the time it would start. Another time on the local roads the car stalled and wouldn't restart so my wife pushed me in her car and got "Joe Cool" (named by our son after a "Snoopy" character) to start once he was going fast enough.
It's worth trying.

If it's not a PG, how about a push start in order to get her home where you can troubleshoot in comfort?

Hi, Lisa wouldn't start in the parking lot at work today. Battery appears good, lights turn on bright. Lights were not left on. Starter does nothing.
I had to abandon her overnight, I will return tomorrow. Almost certainly a bad connection but where? What can I do to get her started? What could it be? What tools and such should I bring to get her started again? -- IV ==========================================================
Bring a VOLTMETER!! Most likely a bad connection..

Smitty Says: Quick and dirty way to get home. Get a piece of wire # 14
or so about 18 inches long. Left forward corner of the engine compartment there is a large wire bundle going to a connector. There is also a pair of wires coming through another grommet right nearby. A heavy purple and a lighter yellow. Jumper with your wire from the purple wire to the positive post of the battery. No need to disconnect the coupling. Just shove the bare end of the wire up inside the back of the socket WARNING ; This bypasses all the forward electrical including the safeties.
Make sure the transmission is out of gear. Powerglide or stick either one can take off down the street. This also proves that the solenoid is not at fault.
Most experienced Corvair people just pull the dipstick and shove the end of it into the back of the connector. then lean the side of it against the battery post.

REMEMBER: WE CAN SELL YOUR CLASSIC/EXOTIC CARS/TRUCKS, TOO!
You may be familiar with our service, restoration and storage services, but we want to remind you that we also sell quality cars and trucks on consignment. Here?s how it works:
Bring us your vehicle, we promote and market it for 2 months and if it doesn?t sell you can take it home and you don?t owe us a penny for our efforts. When it sells, we charge a
commission which, for most cars, is only 10% of the sale price. All cars are stored inside
our heated 75,000 s/f building while we are marketing them.
We handle all of the advertising and paperwork. Many of our clients only have to come here
twice: once to drop off their car and later to pick up their check.
If you have a nice classic or exotic car/truck that you would like us to sell, give us a call or visit our website for more information.
