Dexron VI is the way to go.  Full synthetics are so much better than the old fluids that it isn't worth the cost savings to use anything else.
There weren't any released between III and VI.

Uncle Seth---I believe (but am not positive) that Type F has no corrosion inhibitors in it.  Those warranties (except for whatever the rebuilder might put on it ) sailed when we didn’t have any grey hair.
