the cheapie fluid pumps wouldn't be complete, but you could stuff the
suction hose into the fill/check plug, and pump out what you can.
Refill it, and run the sucker for a while while up on jack stands, then
repeat.
That would stir up any (or most) remaining crud for the second suctioning.
Really, drilling and tapping for a drain plug sounds like the best bet.
(could still do the flush sequence after installing the drain plug)
As usual, easy and good don't really coincide!
Does anyone bother using a magnetic drain plug?
