<VV> Not worth the trouble?

CORSA existed for over 30 years before a small group of us finally created the Stock Corvair Group, and then, using our own funds and time, began to build this web site where like-minded people could share their interest and exchange information about Stock Corvairs. We are not paid for our work, we all have other jobs, but we have put a lot of time and money into creating a site and an organization dedicated to the research, preservation, restoration , operation, and enjoyment of all that was original to the Corvair, in all its forms.
We have made considerable effort to recruit and involve others in our hobby, to varying degrees of success, but I will confess that the use of the website has always been a disappointment to me. It was designed to be interactive, allowing members to post and comment, but few have done so.
The website's public page (no login required) also attempts to tie together resources found across the web, with links to every Corvair site of General and stock interest, as well as links to our other sites containing photos of our annual Stock Corvair Events, held at CORSA conventions, and to our SCG Facebook page. We also link to some specific Stock Corvair research sites.
If a person can be bothered to register, they may enter the SCG website proper, where they can not only read existing posts, but also comment on them, or compose their own posts. In order to keep the site organized and free of spam, we have a tiered membership structure that requires new posts to be approved prior to publication for all but those members who have already proven their research and publication expertise. Posts can be categorized and tagged for easy search and retrieval.
The site is based off of Wordpress, and because it is designed to be interactive, we need to require a login procedure to prevent spammers from destroying the site.
It should be noted that it is part of the SCG bylaws that "Members of the Stock Corvair Group are required to be members of CORSA", which is why we require your CORSA ID for registration. (Having said that, we do not routinely check to insure that existing members retain CORSA membership.)
So, I'm sorry if it is "not worth the trouble" to register to visit our site, but I am proud that at least a few of us thought it *was* "worth the trouble" to form the SCG and attempt to offer people an opportunity to find the information they seek in a common location.
