While the pump return spring in the secondary carbs is shorter and stronger, it is only to "assist" the
closing of the carbs. The more important part is a stronger or pair of springs for the accelerator cross
shaft. A more common malady, however, is varnish build up around the shafts or in the throttle bores that
causes them to stick open.
