<VV> Torque values for valve covers?

I bring my own torque wrench! With the bolt and all four "spreader bars" in
place, I tighten down each bolt until my fingernail will fit between the
spreader bar and the valve cover right at the bolt location. That has worked
for me. On the race car, I use a stud and tall bolt with safety wire to
the bolt above/below. But I still tighten to the fingernail test. - It works.

Strange you should ask, I just did one side of my '66 yesterday, however I
did not torque them when I put them back on, never have. just snugged
them back up reasonably tight. Same as I did on the pan bolts, cork gasket
seeped a little, so snugged them up a little more. Never thought about
torqueing these bolts

Hi, I am going to try to fix some push rod tube oil leaks, changing the
valve cover as well. What are the torque values for valve covers? Where can
I generally find corvair torque values? I have steenkin' manuals but I
often don't read them... -- IV

Screwdriver snug... by hand! Value is in Manual...but I think is
wrong.... basically you want 1 to 2 FT . LB. no more!
