Smitty, Here's some food for thought.  While working on this dudes' '63  Spyder, I said the engine bay wiring harness was like " an explosion in a mattress factory".  So, since it was such a mess, I decided the easiest way to fix it would be to totally unwrap it and start from scratch.  I'm so glad I did it that way.  While tracing wires, I found at least 3 that had partially melted insulation!!!!  The generator wires were sloppily added externally, so that may have had something to do with it.  And this was inside the part of the harness that looked totally normal!!!!!   I guess the only way to know for sure is to take it apart and look.  That approach totally saved this dude's hyde down the road.
