Sorry to hear about the fire, Smitty.  I assume that it was fed by a fuel
leak somewhere.

Pure speculation here, but I wonder if the apparent concentration of the
fire toward the front of the engine was because the fire was sucked down
into the fan and then burned back through the upper "cold air" heater
hose.  If that happened, then the fire would essentially by cycling through
the engine compartment "supercharged" by the engine fan.
