<VV> Copper A/c lines

I suggest that your friend just use rubber lines in place of the copper lines. If he is intent on copper lines, then he might be able to have a local refrigeration shop make them up for him. I have not been able to successfully find the barbed fittings, however, the copper tubing is standard refrigeration stock.

PS... I am in the same predicament, and I am going to use all rubber lines. Might not be "factory", but sometimes you have to improvise.
